As of January 2015, our SCBWI Ireland website has now moved to: Please visit us there!

SCBWI Ireland Meetup in Cork – Saturday, November 15, 2014 (3:00 pm to 5:00 pm AT bISHOPSTOWN lIBRARY)

All writers and illustrators of children’s books are welcome to attend. We will be meeting in the upstairs room at Bishopstown Library in Cork.

This is our last meetup of the year and we’re going to have a bit of a party! There will be a few treats plus tea and instant coffee will be available.

Our theme is a discussion of the different age groups and genres within children’s book, and why we choose to write or illustrate for a particular age/genre (or more than one)! Thanks for the suggestion, Fiona!

You’re welcome to share this event with any children’s book writers or illustrators who might be interested. You don’t have to be a SCBWI member to attend.

Please RSVP by email to so I know how many people are coming. Thanks! Colleen 🙂

We all tend to work in isolation, so meeting our fellow writers and illustrators in person gives us a chance to “talk shop” and commiserate on the trials and joys of our chosen profession.

There is a series of informal bi-monthly meetups in Cork, arranged by the Regional Advisor. These usually take place at the Bishopstown Library in Cork City.

Details of any other meet-ups around the country will be confirmed as information becomes available.

Currently, the majority of our members are based in and around Dublin with the rest of the membership scattered fairly evenly across Ireland’s counties. We want to find ways to get people together with minimal effort and cost.

We would like to encourage members to arrange their own meetups and online chats where geography does not allow for in-person gatherings.

Has anyone tried doing a meetup over Skype? That has possibilities!

We hope to see you soon!
